I have to say, one of the nicest things about my job is when brands want me to test out their produce. Not only do I get to be creative with these ingredients, it also kind of fills up the freezer. Win!
And today I would like to share a recipe I did with Checkers Championship Boerewors. Voted South Africa’s number one boerewors, these sausages have seen many a braai, and has been made into many a ‘boerieroll’ throughout South Africa.
Boerewors Pizza
Boerewors are not only meant as an accompaniment to the steak and chop. It also does not always have to be made into a boerewors roll. As a matter of fact, I think this is my new favorite pizza combination…
…and I wanted a Boerewors Pizza. Period.
How to make Pizza
I used a simple pizza dough recipe, spread a thick layer of All Gold tomato sauce with dried oregano and topped it with pan fried boerewors, caramelized onion, mozzarella and fresh basil. As South African as it gets!
Do you like my Wors?
My thoughts? Well, it isn’t voted South Africa’s Championship Boerewors for nothing folks! Enjoy the weekend, hope you get to lite some fires!
