Let’s face it. When you are entertaining over the colder months, you NEED a whole bunch of Winter Pudding inspiration. Let me help you with that! Nothing makes the heart beats warmer than serving any of these lip-smacking winter desserts to your guests. They will be back for more!
Bread and Butter Pudding with Dark Chocolate Ganache and Citrus
My Bread and Butter Pudding consists of buttery slices of The Artisan Bakers bread, covered in a cream, whole milk, and egg custard, sweetened with coconut sugar and topped with a swoon-worthy 80% dark chocolate ganache and citrus zest.
Do you get that this might be the best thing since sliced bread?
Crepes with Spiced Caramelised Nectarines
Even though crepes is a French term for a thin pancake-like treat, we South Africans know it very well. We call our version pannekoek and is long since served with a variety of fillings, other than the very popular cinnamon and sugar.
So, feel like some pannekoek this weekend? I promise that the addition of spiced, caramelized nectarines (or even pears) will make it a sure favourite.
Caramel Apple Crumbles
These Caramel Apple Crumbles are ridiculously buttery and full of oozing caramel, I could barely contain myself when it came out of the oven. I used a very simple butter, flour and salt pastry crust for this recipe, with fresh apples and decadent caramel with a hint of cinnamon.
Sticky Pineapple Tart
I used fresh pineapple for this recipe, although you can use any other fruits you might have on hand like apples, guava or nectarines. A basic sponge cake is used with fruit pieces, then baked in the oven and smothered in a cream, vanilla and sugar sauce.
Spicy Fruit Cakes with Whiskey Caramel
I used sultanas, seedless raisins, dates, dried figs and red apple with warming spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Orange zest and vanilla are also present to allow the ease of citrus to cut through each bite. The star of this dessert, however, is the Whiskey Caramel Sauce, that can easily be made into a common fridge dweller, to drizzle over ice cream and waffles.
Honey and Citrus Syrup Cake
The thing about a moist syrup cake, like this one, is that it lasts way longer than any other cake. It is actually at its best when it has been standing in the fridge for about three days. Can you see why this is such an evil thing!
Vegan Choc Mousse and Citrus Cream Phyllo Stack
Don’t you just love a good chocolate mousse? My vegan chocolate mousse version turned out so good, and would you believe it if I said my main ingredient is avocado?? Believe it! Avocado, almond milk, a little vanilla essence, shot of espresso and melted dark chocolate – makes for the perfect, smooth and chocolatey vegan mousse.
Sticky Citrus and Dark Chocolate Puddings
These Sticky Citrus and Dark Chocolate Puddings came about a few weeks ago as I had so many naartjies I had to use, and the addition of dark chocolate chips makes it even more decadent. I might be slightly obsessed with citrus.
And there you have a whole bunch of mouthwatering winter puddings to serve for any gathering really. Hope you all give them a try and if you do, remember to tag me with #aninasrecipes @aninasrecipes (all over the place) and I will share your creations on my insta stories!
